So we are now in Berlin. I almost wrote officially, but then I realized that although we have an apartment (an “in between rental”, and yes it translates exactly so in German), we have not registered with the city yet. So official it is not! And yes, when you move in Germany you need to update your status by going to the city hall and saying “I now live here.” It is free and relatively painless, but it must be done! But we have time!
The reason we have an in between rental is so that we can have more time to do a more in depth search for the place we want to live in, and to decide if we want to rent or buy. This place would be a good candidate, the location is fantastic and the rent super cheap. But it is super cheap for a reason – there is no shower. We have been asked to put one in ourselves, a slight investment in tap and dies, not such a biggie, but still enough to make us wonder – what if we make a mistake?
How are we going about getting showers until we either fix this one or get our more permanent place? Patrick’s cousin lives 5 mins away and he gave us a key to his place. We just go there to shower!
