So the trip this long weekend was awesome and the break was needed! (which did not impress Oma at all. When she found out that I was renting a car with a friend for the full 4 days, and even worse – that Patrick was not invited, I was told that if the Easter bunny can not find me on Sunday then he is not leaving me anything).
However, she did wait until Monday to have Easter dinner.
But the best thing about renting a car in Germany is that they really like to support the German car industry. And so upon arriving our uber cheap car rental was in fact a mini cooper. We were rather excited that we got to test one out.
Our happiness did not last long. We both decided we hate the thing! (On the upside due to gear shifting on the black devil I was pretty sure I could handle a standard, I figured nothing could be more difficult than a cantankerous old scouter from the DDR, and I proved myself right). Hurray to me for cursing all the way to Italy!
But the thing is TOO intuitive, and tries to do things you never want it to do! And I must have hit the signal light 10 times to finally to stop it from switching from one to the other. (honestly, one hit brought me to left, the next signaled right, then left, never did it just stop!). Apparently I am too aggressive with my indicating.
In truth all we really wanted was wipes so that we could get rid of the pastry goo from our fingers that we transfered over the to the wheel.

So you assumed the Mini would be easy to operate?
Havn’t you ever been to the circus?
The circus has always served to show how it requires about ten – twelve clowns to operate one Mini.
You tried to go it alone, did you?
You should have at least put mezmerizing swirls on the hubcaps, it helps.
hee hee,
You are so right! Well, I had one friend for help, but obviously with two alone the mezmerizing hubcaps were a requirement for even basic maneuvers and standard operations.
Next time.
